The Curriculum

 

Our comprehensive training covers a range of topics, including a comprehensive book of philosophy and meditation scripts for your mastery.

 
 
  • In this module you’ll: 

    • Be introduced to the little-known history of meditation and dive into several great traditions such as Advaita Vedanta, Classical Yoga and Bhairava Tantra. 

    • Understand the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory, endocrine and musculoskeletal systems and a strong emphasis on the nervous system and stress response. Learn how meditation interacts with these systems.

    • Get familiar with the subtle body, life energies and states of consciousness that govern us, as well as meditation’s role with them. 

    • Learn the science of breathing and why it’s such an important element in meditation as a tool for relaxation and nervous system regulation.  

    • Get clear on the science behind meditation and the proven benefits. 

    • Avoid making costly mistakes in discerning what meditation paths are right for you and others.

    No matter your background or skill level, you’ll gain a solid understanding of meditation’s function so you can make clear choices and adaptations for yourself and the people you’re serving. 

  • In this module, you’ll: 

    • Master the 10 foundational skills for every meditator to learn.

    • Learn what happens in the cycle of meditation. 

    • Understand the various postures and what works best for different people. 

    • Learn the old meditation language that needs to be thrown out forever and what to replace it with.

    You’ll learn exactly how to navigate almost any situation or experience that arises during meditation and how to help people overcome their biggest barriers to meditation.

  • In this module, you’ll: 

    • Master your own practice and energy

    • Learn how to navigate whatever sensations, emotions and moods show up

    • Discover how to work with the pain body, fear, trauma and neglected parts to find healing

    • Learn how to listen and find answers through meditation

    You can only begin safely leading other people to their truth and answers within when you’ve learned how to discover your own.

  • In this module, you’ll: 

    • Learn several core techniques - across 4 major pathways of meditation: 

      • Mantra

      • Breath Awareness (Anapana)

      • Breath Control

      • Energizing Breath of Fire

      • Calming Breath Techniques

      • Body Scan

    • Practice each technique many times to gain strong familiarity with it. 

    • Get a script template for each technique that you can memorize or customize for yourself.

    • Discover what techniques feel best for you in your current meditation journey. 

    You’ll hone in on some of the most beneficial techniques today that serve a broad range of concerns. This gives you a solid foundation to teach people from any background, spiritual belief or experience level, no matter what their goals are: stress relief, sleep, energy, healing, joy, focus, or more.

    • Know how to sequence your classes and handle transitions

    • Understand how to handle the 4 stages of every meditation

    • Discover what questions and behaviors to expect from students before, during and after

People are very different and come to meditation for very personal reasons and goals. So we’ll dive straight into the heart of what's concerning your people, and what meditations can actually help them. 

You’ll learn ancient styles of meditation, With a strong emphasis on modern Meditation styles backed by scientific research. Techniques reverse-engineered for people stressed in today's society.

The truth is - most of the attitudes about meditation and the techniques taught today were designed for ancient renunciants and monks. Celibate men living on a religious path. While we respect them greatly, those well-intended sages have very different goals and needs than working people today. For much of human history, meditators were mostly monastic men, but now the majority of the world’s meditators are westerners, and mostly women amongst them. This requires a thoughtful reverse-engineering of meditation. In this training, we share meditations that are effective for people in the world today, and discuss some of the ways meditation can be customized differently for men and women today.

DAILY SCHEDULE

We’ll start each day with a sunrise practice. After, you’ll enjoy a healthy fruit breakfast in silent reflection. We return for a riveting morning lecture, followed by a movement, pranayama and meditation practice. We proceed into a long lunch break and finally return to a lecture, workshop or teaching practicum. We finish most days at 6:30pm with a lovely evening meditation.

Both Sundays are off - for 2 days off in total.

LEAH SANTA CRUZ

Leah Santa Cruz is an experienced Meditation Teacher (E-RYT 500) with a diverse background in neuroscience, psychology, and business spanning over 17 years. After a decade in the tech industry, she experienced burnout and anxiety, leading her to discover the transformative power of meditation.

  • Michael Henri has 15 years of experience as a Varsity Athlete, Yoga Teacher, Kinesiologist, Physical Therapist, Food Psychologist, and Functional Nutritionist. He helps meditation teachers develop their craft through applied functional anatomy, restoring function in people's lives in more than just the physical way.

    Michael guides people in how to regulate their nervous system and process held trauma and tension in the body. As well as experience less injury in meditation and get the most out of their practice.

    His expertise in kinesiology, physical therapy, food psychology, and functional nutrition allows him to address his people’s needs from multiple angles, a personalized approach to healing.

Akshay Bhat

Sharing Ancient Vedic Practices and Meditation Philosophy from India.

  • Akshay began his yoga and meditation journey at Gurukula, Vedic Yoga Education School in India. His focus is on bringing healing tools to people via through the ancient practice of Hatha yoga and meditation. He studied the Yoga Sutras and Vedic mantras during his school years and continued with a Bachelor's Degree in Yogic Sciences.

        Meditation experiences are unique for everyone and each style has its own benefits. We believe that a good teacher has a diverse toolkit - a crucial step in discovering the practices that work best for you and your students.

      • Yes! There are no pre-requisites to this meditation teacher training. That said, some of our students will have already completed a 200 hr YTT, while for others this will be their first course.

      • Some experience in meditation is required. A regular practice of a few months is minimum, so you’re already comfortable with sitting and holding your attention on something for a while.

      • There will be movement every day! Most days there will be an asana practice and other days we will invite new kinds of movement.

        The reason why - is that In order to truly find comfort with seated meditation, we must first find flexibility and openness in our body and hips. Asana is the perfect way to do this and in fact - it’s the entire reason why asana was invented in the first place! To prepare us for meditation.

        We offer a simple 90 minute guided asana practice most days before lunch. During lunchtime, you can do any other workout you like. We also provide breaks after our lectures for you to move around, dance and stretch.

      • You must attend 90% of the live sessions and complete all of the homework and recordings. The duration of the 150hr training is 16 days but only 14 of them include live sessions.

      • This training is a part of a 300hr advanced yoga alliance certification.

        If you only complete this level 1 training, you can combine these 150 hrs with an additional 150 hrs of advanced trainings by Paul, Leah, Byron DeMarse or a reputable school or teacher that we can review. Then you can receive the 300 hr advanced certification with YA.

      • All insurances (incl. health and travel) are the responsibility of the participants.

        Teachers and assistants shall not be held liable for any damage, or loss of property or injury to persons.
